Let me explain, i was recently selected in the green card lottery which will permit me to work in the USA, I just got my engineering certificate in telecommunication here in algeria , but i heard that algerian diplomas have no value in the us, to i’m studding for CCNA exam, i’m going to pass the exam as soon as i get to the us (next year) i also started taking spanish lessons because i heard it can be very help full, what do you think? and what other things should i study to facilitate integration and job finding in the USA knowing that have good basis in Computing, programmation, electronics and GSM networks? Many companies here don’t care about diplomas, they care about experience and ability.
Spanish? Only if you’re a native Spanish speaker. Any language you’ve been speaking for a few years (other than English) will do more for you than one you just learned. The attitude in most of this country is that, even though there’s no “official language”, the official language is English. Very few companies (almost none in the computer industry) use interpreters.
The big problem now (and probably for at least a few years) is the economy. There are many experienced people who are willing to take entry level people, so any company looking to hire has its pick of experienced people. Why would they hire someone with little or no experience?
