recommendation Spanish language computer program?

soyyo815 asked:

I’m hoping to hear your recommendations for a Spanish computer program. We were using the Rosetta Stone through the public library which is no longer available. I’m sure we could find it through another library, but we’d like to change programs as he went through all the lessons. We speak Spanish in the house and I’ve looked into several local classes, but I’d like to find a program to keep his ear in the language and continue to expand his vocabulary. He really enjoyed the Rosetta Stone. It was the first thing he did every morning and he reminds me daily to look for a replacement. I know they have several at the electronics stores, but it’s difficult to know from the outside of the package. If someone knows of one that has good speak recognition allowing him to participate in conversation, that would be great as he’s just gaining courage to speak. Thanks much for your input.

Can I use my Japanese lessons to earn my high school foreign language credit?

Lumi asked:

I’m a freshman and in high school I’m taking Spanish 1 or Native Speakers. I just recently started Japanese lessons. The teacher comes to my house to teach me.
Now I’m wondering if I can use this as my foreign language for school. Can I do this just to take of one year off foreign language in school?

I’m not going to try it yet, but I’m just wondering if its possible. If it is, I might take it into consideration.
ugh, I meant “for Native Speakers” :P

if you cant learn a language should you try a similar language?

LostMystic asked:

I have a hard time learning Spanish and was wondering if I should try French, Italian or Latin. All of which I think are close to Spanish and if I learn one of those maybe I can ease it to ease in to Spanish.

Yes I know Spanish is the easiest language but for some reason I cant seem to grasp it. Perhaps because I feel I should all ready know it is why it is hard but I don’t know.

I am half Mexican so I should all ready know it but I don’t.

Can you suggest some good learning courses? I did take a class at the college but it went way too fast for me and for private lessons I would have to go to Portland 80 miles away.

Um…I have tried instant immersion Spanish deluxe CD program.

Any ideas?

Starting my own Spanish beginner’s class?

Mr. Bojangles asked:

I will be teaching my own spanish lessons and I’m not sure where to begin. This will be my first time teaching spanish to anyone other than people in my family, which will be different (when you’re teaching your family you just say stuff and they learn here and there). I want these people to have the ability to learn another language rather quickly, but i want to make sure they aren’t wasting their time. I have a few ideas on how long each lesson should take, but I’m confused on whether or not I should bring outside books or just teach what I know from my head, how to set up a lesson, plan, etc. Please don’t do the “you shouldn’t do this” because I’m doing this to help people learn another language (and hopefully helping them learn skills for a better job!), not to scam people out of time and money. I’d prefer help from other spanish teachers as I’m nervous about doing this, but I’d love advice from other teachers or anyone with some good ideas! THANKS SO MUCH!
