Information/advice on a fast track Spanish A level?

Louise asked:

I’m considering my future A levels as I’ll be leaving school next academic year. I know it’s early but we’re supposed to be applying for colleges around December or something next year and I’m thinking about my options.
Here’s the deal.
I’ve been taught French for 5 years-I took the GCSE in an 8 month course with one weekly lesson, and I’m predicted an A/A*. I’ve been learning German for two years and am taking it as a GCSE course -I’m predicted an A* for this, and if I were able to take French in the 2 years I’d get an A*.
I want to continue both these languages at college as well as English language and History-but I’ve been told I could take a fast track Spanish A level. I was really excited at this as I’ve had no opportunity to learn Spanish in my secondary school, and I think it’s a really useful language.
But I’m concerned about what the results of this usually are-the condition to get onto my course is to have to a B or above in another GCSE language, which I will do.
Without sounding big-headed, I have enough confidence to think I’ll pass-but what are the realistic challenges of getting an A? I would love to go to Oxford-I love the city, the lifestyle, and it’s a family tradition-but if I couldn’t get in I’d still be aiming for a good university.
I know the grade is ultimately for me to achieve, but how possible is it that someone can learn A level Spanish to grade A in two years? We would have 7 hours a week taught lessons in the first year-I know that much, and that sounds like a lot.
I’d really love to take this course but I want to know if my hopes are realistic… any help would be appreciated.
Yeah thanks for the thought but I don’t want language lesson sales…
