Could you please help me out in understanding the verbs that are similar to ‘ gustar ‘ in Spanish?

SpaceBoy360* asked:

I’m having a lesson about verbs that are similar to gustar in Spanish but I don’t really seem to get it. In my book it says those verbs may seem like they should be reflexive, but they’re not. It also says that they follow the pattern you have learned for gustar and are normally used with an indirect object pronoun. So then there are some vocabs: doler (to hurt), hacer falta (needing), importar (to matter), parecer (to seem), and encantar (delightful/happy).

* So here is my question, I’m not sure of how to use these verbs, nor in a normal sentence nor in asking questions. For example, how would you use hace falta in a sentence? What I mean is that, which part of hace falta do you conjugate? Lets say they are needing the car – Ellos se hacen falta la cara, or is it?

And so I’m not sure of how to use the above vocabs in a sentence and in when I’m asking a question, and I really please you to help me out with those verbs that are similar to gustar, and if you’ll provide examples in Spanish, could you use examples of for example, somebody is needing it, or his elbow hurts, or how somebody feels. And also, is it necessary to use the indirect object pronoun in those types of sentences even though they are not reflexive?

Thanks a lot!
And I have also heard of that those types of sentences are translated into English backwards, for example, A mi mama le hace falta el maquillaje (makeup is needed by my mom or my mom is lacking makeup) – that’s from my notes.

Thanks a lot!
