I do GCSE Spanish and I don’t learn anything from my teacher. He is French, and I can’t understand his accent when he speaks English, and it is confusing when he speaks or writes things on the board such as “how would be the environment?” All we do is copy off the board and do some sheets, and we don’t learn anything at all. I thought my Spanish tecaher from last year would do GCSE because she was really good and I learnt a lot from her but she left at the end of last year. He is the only Spanish teacher in the school as all 3 of the other spanish teachers left the school. He never answers anybody’s questions and sometimes can’t understand the questions we ask him because he is French. He gives out detentions to people every lesson for doing nothing and send people out and sends them to lesson exclusion for the smallest things. Luckily I manage to stay out of his way, but I haven’t learnt anything this year in Spanish. It’s now 6 weeks into the term and we haven’t even got past page 10 in the text book. I don’t know what to do as my gcse’s are really important to me and I don’t want to fail because of the teacher. What can I do?
There is only one Spanish class in my year because he is the only teacher. Thank you for your answer

don’t recommend listening to those stupid cd lessons in the car, those are crap…….

also, are there any complications with learning more than one language at once? i mean, is there any proof or something that it would make it more difficult

if anything i think it would only help….especially if you study more than one latin language at once….since many words are similar and stuff…..

Hello, in about a year I will be a Spanish teacher. I have noticed in my 6 years of being a Spanish student that for some reason it is a harder class for the majority of the students or it just takes longer for the concepts to click. I am quite confident that I know the material well and can explain the material clearly on the students’ level and even have good activities to practice/to learn, etc the lessons. However, there is always the few who understand the lesson the day after the test or just right behind the others. What do you think of my following grading ideas and will it be accepted by the administrators (I’m not sure if they check into this kind of stuff):
#1giving all the homework for the lesson at the start of the lesson so everyone works at their own pace and having it due after we move onto the next lesson (of course I will have some kind of assessment in class to let them know if they are doing the homework right or by doing it in advance……
they could check with me to see their errors before turning it in.
#2 having a test but allow them to retake the test a week later if they wish to improve their grade (that way if on the test day they were having an off day or if the material finally clicked the day after the test.. they are not punished.
Mainly my grading idea wants to focus on the idea that as long as you learn the material at some point you will not be punished (of course within a certain time limit)
