Dear Journal,
Hola. Me llamo Sandra y yo vive en Brasil con mi mama, me papa, y mis hermanos.
You soy diez y sies anos y me encanta jugar tenis con mis hermanos.
When I was a child I used to play a lot with my cousins but most of the times it would be my girl cousins. We used to play tag and hide-n-seek. One day I saw my cousin that was playing tennis and I wanted to play with him. Both of us played but at the end, I had lost and didn’t have one point. I was really angry so I mistreated him and I was very jealous of my cousin because he was better at tennis than I was. After that my cousins judged me and other girls that they can’t play tennis and we stopped talking to one another. My cousins think that guys are better at tennis than girls and for me it’s a fault of respect, a stereotype, and I don’t like it at all. I said to my cousin “This is the last straw and on the contrary I don’t agree with you. Girls can also play tennis. You have the wrong image of girls.” Then my cousin replied “it’s not worth it. I don’t want to talk to you. You have the wrong impression of girls. They can never be good at tennis. It’s only a game for boys.” I would have told my parents that my cousins judged me a lot but I didn’t think it was the right thing to do. I was really sad after this so I took tennis lessons so I could be better at tennis. Now I am older and really good at tennis and enjoy playing it a lot. Tomorrow I will play with my guy cousin again but I want to win. I will show him that girls can play tennis and are good at it too. I hope that they will stop judging me and other girls because girls can be athletic also.
Dear Journal,
Today I played tennis with my cousin and I won the game. I was happy that I won and now he knows that girls can also be athletic. Now I am not jealous of him. It also made me happy because my cousin asked me “I was known to be good at tennis but you are also very good. I insist that you play with me more now because you are very good. Forgive me please.” After that I said to him “I am an honest person. You are also very good at tennis. Forgive me for what I said to you when we were kids. I didn’t do it on purpose. Are you upset?” He then said to me “no, I am not. I am sorry for the stereotypes.” Later he gave me a hug and we were friends again.
Dear Journal,
Today I broke up with my boyfriend. He kept secrets from me. He was in love with another girl. I feel like crying and I hope that his girlfriend will break up with him too. He is not faithful or honest. He is stubborn, disloyal, and arrogant. It’s not worth it. I will not talk about him to my friends or family.
